Michigan's Lower Peninsula—mainly a five-county area surrounding Traverse City—is attracting a surge in New York tourists and second-home buyers, according to Bloomberg News. A surge in tourism from visitors outside of Michigan is helping increase demand for vacation houses in the region, where the median home price is about a quarter of that in the Hamptons.
